The Racecheck award winning event 'The Longhorn' is a 5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon, 50k or 60k Ultra trail run. Our 5k is family friendly with group tickets available. A beautiful trail run set in private areas of Sherwood Forest & the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Park; next to a Grade1 listed 19th Century country house in north Nottinghamshire; Thoresby Hall.

Running over old military roads, cleared tracks through ancient woodland and grassed paths around the country estate. The route includes a few hills to offer a small challenge around the course in the most scenic countryside & forest. The elevation is noted on the downloadable course map. The course has very firm hard ground if dry but a few muddy areas to run through when wet.

LATE ENTRIES - please email amanda@sbrevents.co.uk for a late entry before 12th April 2021 - ON THE DAY ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS

THIS EVENT WILL BE ORGANISED FOLLOWING COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES;

WE RECOMMEND ALL PARTICIPANTS & MARSHALS GET A FREE TEST COMPLETED BEFORE ATTENDING THE EVENT. THESE ARE AVAILABLE FROM LOCAL COUNCIL COMMUNITY TESTING CENTRES OR THEIR PHARMACIST

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE EVENT IF YOU HAVE NEW COVID-19 SYMPTOMS: THESE MIGHT INCLUDE A HIGH TEMPERATURE, NEW COUGH OR HAVE LOST TASTE/SMELL

Please read further below for detailed Covid-19 Safety Measures -

Canicross entries & Nordic Walkers are very welcome. Please ensure you enter under the specific category you wish to be with. Separate Canicross start times help avoid congestion and over taking.

10k - Due to the number of 10k runners we have introduced a wave of runners at 11am & 2pm. Please book into the correct wave.

The Ultra's will have an 8hr limit to complete the course & marathon a 7hr time limit. After that, you will not be permitted to continue another lap & we send an end runner round the course to ask marshals to stand down & to ensure last particIpant returns safely. You will be able to leave kit bags under cover of a gazebo at race village so you can grab food, change of shoes, socks & any other kit you need every time you pass by (every lap).

5k 2021 update  - Since a pre-event visit to the venue on 30th March we have been informed that the 5k route will revert back to the usual one (not the one we used at Thoresby in October 2020) . It remains a 2 lap route which is part trail & partly on tarmac roads around the park & through the village of Perlesthorpe.

Free parking is located off Netherfield Lane & marked with our signs. There will be hot food from Good Spuds & homemade cake & coffee from Sunshine Van.

Covid-19 Safety Measures

We are currently planning the additional measures required. Your safety & enjoyment of the day is our priority. This guidance will be updated regularly & emailed to all participants before race day.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE EVENT IF YOU HAVE NEW SYMPTOMS: THESE MIGHT INCLUDE A HIGH TEMPERATURE, NEW COUGH OR HAVE LOST TASTE/SMELL

Race Village will be expanded so that people gather with more space between runners. There will be separate start times for each distance. You will be encouraged to run the course with fastest runners going first to avoid mass overtaking - this is usual practice at our events. Runners will leave the start line in small waves all 2m apart to spread out runners but you can still run with friends (socially distanced - just don't hold hands!!)

THERE WILL BE HAND SANITISER STATIONS AVAILABLE ALL AROUND RACE VILLAGE & AT WATER STATIONS. PLEASE USE THEM AS YOU ENTER THE VENUE FROM THE CAR PARK & AGAIN AS YOU LEAVE. PLEASE USE THEM BEFORE & AFTER USING TOILETS. PLEASE USE THEM BEFORE & AFTER COLLECTION OF YOUR MERCHANDISE / T-SHIRTS ETC.

To gain entry to the car park, each car will need to show a race number to the marshal. This is to minimise spectators at the event. Mass gatherings are still not allowed & although there is plenty of space outside at Thoresby we want to keep everyone safe; marshals, participants & race partners such as chip timing & medical personnel in attendance on the day. Please be sensible about this decision. The actual course (for all distances except 5k) is on private land on the Estate going into Sherwood Forest & no spectators are allowed on to the course. You can still attend to support if you are providing a lift to a participant but we'd prefer you to 'drop & collect' - THANK YOU.

All race numbers will be posted out to you 7-10days before the race so there will not be a need for registration. T-shirts / buffs & merchandise will be collected on race day at the event.

Our charity bag drop will not be available in 2021. The car park is 350-500m from Race Village. Please be prepared to tie a race skin / hoody around your waist if necessary & to carry your own water.

There will be no trophy presentation after the races & trophies may be replaced by High St vouchers or discount codes which can be emailed out POST race.

There will be additional safety measures to maintain 2m distance wherever possible & we'd like participants to be patient & respectful of each other in carpark & at race village to keep everyone safe & work to government guidelines. More details of these will be outlined & emailed to all participants nearer the event date.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer pacers on this event as this would encourage larger groups of runners.

We are very sorry but due to COVID-19 restrictions we cannot offer sports massage at this event in 2021. This service will be back in 2022!

Water stations will be on course for this event. Sadly we can't allow individuals to fill their own re-useable water cups as we prefer. Marshals (in full PPE) will fill water into compostable cups  & leave them on tables for you to collect. Marshals cannot hand out water directly to participants. Please dispose of the cups into giant waste bags nearby & 200m further up the course. HOWEVER WE STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO BRING YOUR OWN WATER / GELS / SNACKS TO THIS EVENT.

Professional cleaners will be employed to spray toilets & wipe handles between each use at Race Village.
