We are proud to announce our 2nd event of 2015 held in the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Hall, north Nottinghamshire following the success of The Longhorn earlier this year in April.

Choose from a race over 10k or 10miles, running along old military roads, cleared tracks through ancient woodland and grassed paths around the country estate. The 10k route is The Longhorn race in reverse, the 10 mile race is the 10k route with an extra 4 miles added through more of the estates ancient woodland. The route includes a few hills to offer a small challenge around the course in some of the most scenic Nottinghamshire countryside as well as the forest & past the lake. The elevation is on the downloadable map.

The Autumn colours should make this a race to remember in this natural area of beauty.The race takes you into Nottinghamshire's National Nature Reserve, through private areas that were once part of the 10,000 acres Royal Forest of Sherwood where the woodland is dominated by native Oaks as well as other native trees including Silver Birch, Rowan, Holly and Hawthorn. The reserve is also the site of Europe's oldest Oak tree plantation, containing over 1000 Oaks most of which are over 500 years old! Look out for the Longhorn Cattle of Thoresby Estate, who usually roam free in the forest, in their restricted fields for the race.

We are also offering a 5k run / walk for all levels. It's a new course that takes you past the beautiful church at Perlethorpe, through woodland groves & back onto the main field in front of Thoresby Hall. This event can be a gentle stroll with the family or a race to get your 5km PB. The 5km race is 2 loops of the course. Please note that we have removed the 2.5km option.

TEAMS - There will be a team race on the 10k & 10mile events. Teams should be made up of 3 people to participate. Prizes will be given for 1st team back but also spot prizes for 5th team & 10th team & 1 random prize so that the race is inclusive no matter how fast - or slow - you run! Register as team leader - name your team & others can sign up on your team by finding you as they book on.

Race numbers (for all events) and your timing chip (for the 10k/10mile/5km race) will be given out on the morning of the race . Please allow enough time to collect these from Race Registration.

There will food available from:

Little Sunshine Van will be back offering hot drinks & beautiful home made cakes including gluten & dairy free

Good Spuds will be providing delicious hot food & drinks with healthy baked potatoes & home made fillings

plus there will be a bouncy castle / entertainment for the children. Bring your supporters & a picnic blanket if the weather is good & they can sit on the lawns by the hall to watch the event unfold & cheer you on.

Our Charity Partner for this event is Nottingham Hospitals Charity  - they have several projects including Haywards House - a hospice for cancer patients, Nottm Childrens Hospital & the Notts Helipad Appeal. We hope you can support them by fundraising for this event & on the day.
